The Instructor
 Laverne Waddington was born in India and raised in Australia. For the last seventeen years she
has been living in South America, first in southern Chile and, since 1996, in Bolivia. Laverne
learned to spin and weave from indigenous weavers in both countries and also has studied with weavers
in Ecuador and Guatemala.
Laverne's blog, backstrapweaving.wordpress.com,
is a treasure trove of travelogue and tutorials, and has become a premier resource for all things related to
backstrap weaving techniques, as she now contacts weavers all over the world and continues to share
new information. She has also published a monograph, "Andean Pebble Weave", available as a download
from Patternfish.
