FireWatch Weavers

Why "Firewatch"? Creativity is the fire that "burns, yet does not consume." It animates and transforms not only the artist, but the world which receives the creation. We at FireWatch Weavers believe that everyone possesses that spark, and it is our purpose to seek it out and encourage it into flame.
There is a rabbinic commentary (Rashi?) that suggests that the real miracle in the story of the burning bush was not that the bush burned without being consumed, but that Moses turned aside to see it; and that, turning, he stayed long enough to discover the presence of the Holy. We are here if you are ready to turn aside from your everyday paths and give your creative heart a chance. There is another image that also applies: the timeless image of human beings circled around a campfire. Here our stories are told, the stories that help us to learn who we are. Here we bond with one another, weaving and embellishing relationships. Here is the meeting place of darkness and light, an evocative place of depth and mystery. "De profundis" - from the depths - come our symbols, our images, our languages, our many ways of discovery. Our school is not just a textile studio, but a circle of friends who come together to learn, to talk, to explore, to co-create, to help one another. FireWatch Weavers: Come sit by the fire. Revel in color and texture, new ideas, new skills and new forms. Step aside, pause, and visit with us. Come, create, and celebrate the joy. |
